Kamaehu Kamauliola Hālaulani Kamālia Kawaʻa was born and raised in Waiehu, Maui with his brother, Kamalei Kawaʻa, by his parents Lewllyn & Luana Kawaʻa. He is a loving husband to Madissyn Kawaʻa and a wonderful father to their daughter, Ceralena Kaleialohaokeolamauloa Kaʻio Kawaʻa. On his free time, he enjoys spending time with his ʻohana. Kamaehu speaks fluent Hawaiian. He attended the Hawaiian Immersion Program and went to Pūnana Leo o Maui, Paʻia Elementary, Kalama Intermediate and Baldwin High School. Kamaehu dances hula for Hālau Kekuaokalāʻauʻalaʻiliahi under the direction of Nā Kumu Hula ʻIliahi & Haunani Paredes. He is the 2012 Hula O Nā Keiki 1st Place Overall Winner. From a young age, Kamaehu was inspired by the Hoʻopiʻi Brothers, Uncle Richard & Solomon Hoʻopiʻi, to sing Hawaiian Music. His favorite memories as a child was watching his Aunty Hoʻomanawanui perform and listening to her sing Hawaiian Music, which motivated him to follow into her footsetps and sing Hawaiian Music as well. Kamaehu is proud to be a young Hawaiian musician and is dedicated to keeping the Hawaiian music, language, and culture alive.
